Description
“Night Falls” is an image of a location straight out of fantasy, yet it really exists. Laurel Mountain, in California’s Eastern Sierra, is in the background, glowing in the deep blue hour after sunset. In the foreground is a stream fed by hot geysers, powered by the same lava dome which drives the geysers in Yosemite National Park (which happens to be on the other side of those mountains). The stream forms a serpentine path vertically through the scene. Steam from one of the geysers can be seen rising from the edge of the stream on the middle right of the image.
