I had hoped for a colorful sunrise, but that didn’t happen. My consolation prize, however, was outstanding: fog. A park near my home was the scene. Adjacent to the Potomac River, the park has a number of bench swings nestled in amongst some giant trees along the river bank. The benches and their relationship with the trees became my subject, with the fog providing ambience and mystery. The tiny bit of color in the leaves to the upper right and on the ground below the swing provide evidence to the season. The character of the light, filtered through the fog, as it skimmed along the tree trunks in the background was simply phenomenal. In total, all the elements came together to create a scene of peacefulness and calm.
