
Not long after completing all the images needed for “Bell Rock and Courthouse Butte” (the subject of my last post), a hole in the clouds to the east allowed a beam of sunlight to light up the clouds above Courthouse Butte in such a way that brought to mind the effect a raging fire on top of the butte would have casting a glow on the clouds above.
I was very fortunate to be in just the right place at just the right time to capture this moment. Having already been set up to capture multiple images for panoramas, I was easily able to capture a set of 8 images in two rows to create the image you see above. The result is a 142 megapixel image with exquisite detail.
