The wild grasses that grow along the foothills of California’s Eastern Sierra Nevada mountains can be quite colorful in the right light. Vibrant greens, reds and yellows dominate while the blue skies overhead can add blue tints to those grasses in the open shade. In this particular scene, layers of grasses are in the foreground while a grove of shadowed trees stand in the middle-ground silhouetted against a hillside in the distance in full early-morning sunlight. The layers of colors and textures combined with wind-induced blur during a long exposure, create an eye-pleasing combination of abstract and representational art.
