A Brief Note from the Artist

I currently live in Englewood, Colorado, with my wonderful wife Shannon, and our new son Eddie. I came to Colorado in 1995 to attend CU Boulder, and have called this place home ever since. I currently work as a Geologist in Denver; but I get outside with my camera whenever I get the oppurtunity. This part of the country is magical for me, and I don't know what I would do with myself if I couldn't hike the peaks of Colorado and the canyons of Utah.

The Intimate Landscape refers to representing the natural world in a simple and emotional way. Whether it is the dramatic color of a sunrise or the delicate beauty of a flower, I try to capture images that illustrate the simplistic elegance in nature.

I used to think that I wasn't an artist because I didn't have a natural talent for drawing or painting. But, I just had to find my medium; and I finally found it through photography. I believe that all people have it in them to be an artist. Everyone needs an outlet to create and I believe this is what brings people peace of mind. This is ultimately why I photograph, because it keeps me sane and fulfills my need to create. When I am exploring the mountains or in the middle of the desert looking for images to capture, I am truly happy. It is pure and simple for me.
